Jussi Adler-Olsen nació el 2 de agosto de 1950 en Copenhague. Estudió Medicina, Sociología, Historia Política y Comunicación Audiovisual. Antes de empezar a escribir en 1995, realizó trabajos muy variopintos: redactor para revistas y cómics, coordinador del movimiento por la paz de Dinamarca, editor jefe de una revista semanal de televisión y presidente del consejo de administración de distintos consorcios empresariales. Su hobby es restaurar casas antiguas. Gracias a las novelas protagonizadas por Carl Mørck, se ha convertido en el autor de novela negra más vendido de Dinamarca.
