Nicholas Evans es periodista, escritor, productor de cine y televisión y novelista. Nació en 1950 en Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, Inglaterra. Evans fue educado en la Bromsgrove School y antes de estudiar en la Universidad de Oxford realizó labores de voluntariado en África a través de «Voluntary Service Overseas» (VSO). Después trabajó como reportero para la prensa escrita y para la televisión. Su primera novela, El hombre que susurraba a los caballos, se colocó muy pronto en las listas de más vendidos de Estados Unidos, y se mantuvo allí durante meses y meses. Posteriormente fue llevada a la gran pantalla, dirigida e interpretada por Robert Redford junto a Kristin Scott Thomas. Las novelas de Evans han vendido 22 millones de ejemplares en todo el mundo.
