Ken Follet va néixer a Cardiff, Gal·les. Després de llicenciar-se en filosofia a la University College de Londres, va treballar de periodista per al South Wales Echo i l'Evening News de Londres, abans de convertir-se en un dels escriptors de best sellers més reconeguts del món. Les seves obres més importants són, entre d'altres, Eye of the Needle, The Man from St. Petersburg, Lie down with Lions, Els pilars de la Terra, L'últim vol, Alt risc i En el blanc, aquestes darreres publicades en català per Edicions 62.
