O seu editor, Bloomsbury, quixo que ela utilizara as súas iniciais na portada dos libros de Harry Potter, indicando que un nombre feminino na portada atraería menos o interese dos nenos, polo que decidiu utilizar o nome da súa avoa "Kathleen".





En febrero de 2004, a revista Forbes indicaba que a fortuna de Rowling ascendía a 576 millones de libras esterlinas, convertíndose na primeira persona que se fixo millonaria escribindo libros.


É a muller máis rica do Reino Unido, e moito máis rica ca Raiña Isabel II.





A escritora obtivo o Premio Príncipe de Asturias da Concordia no ano 2003.
