Harold Pinter va néixer a Londres l?octubre de 1930. Considerat com un dels grans dramaturgs de la segona meitat del segle XX, és també poeta, director teatral, actor, guionista i activista polític. La seva obra ha estat reconeguda amb els guardons europeus més prestigiosos, com el premi Shakespeare, l?Europeu de Literatura, el Pirandello, el David Cohen de literatura britànica, el Lawrence Olivier, el Molière d?Honneur i el Nobel de literatura 2005. Entre les seves obres de teatre destaquen L?habitació, La festa d?aniversari, L?amant, Silenci o Vells temps. És reconegut com a crític de referència de la realitat política contemporània.
