Alastair Reynolds nació en Barry, al sur de Gales, en 1966. Es doctor en Astronomía y ha trabajado durante doce años como astrofísico para la Agencia Espacial Europea en los Países Bajos. Desde hace unos años vive en Gales, donde se dedica únicamente a la escritura.
Sus space operas, como la serie de ?Espacio Revelación? o ?North? o las novelas independientes Pushing Ice y Century Rain, así como su colección ?Galactic? lo han consagrado como un autor imprescindible dentro del género de la ciencia ficción. Ha ganado el British Science Fiction Award y ha sido nominado en tres ocasiones para el premio Arthur C. Clarke.
