Jacqueline Wilson nació en Bath, Reino Unido, en 1945. Siempre quiso ser escritora y su primera "novela" la escribió cuando tenía 9 años. En la adolescencia ya trabajaba en una revista de una empresa en Escocia. Y se dedicó por entero a la escritura pasados unos años.
 
Jacqueline ha recibido numerosos premios por su textos, entre ellos el Premio Smarties y el Children's Book Award. Millones de copias de sus libros se han vendido solamente en el Reino Unido y ha sido traducida a varias lenguas.
