Ashley Poston es autora a media jornada y fan a tiempo completo. Tiene una licen­ciatura en Literatura por la Universidad de Carolina del Sur. En su época de estudiante jugaba a videojuegos y escribía fanfictions. Cuando terminó la universidad se mudó a Nue­va York, donde trabajó en Kodansha Comics y en la editorial Bloomsbury.
 
Al poco tiempo regresó a Carolina del Sur, lugar en el que las estrellas se ven mucho mejor. Ahí logró escribir algunos libros, como Geekerella, The Princess and the Fangirl, Heart of Iron y Soul of Stars. Estos han sido mencionados en revistas como Teen Vogue, Seventeen, Enter­tainment Weekly, Hypable y BuzzFeed. Geekerella fue finalista del premio Goodreads Choice 2017. Cuando no está escribiendo, está jugando Dungeons and Dragons e inventando nuevas fan­fictions. Vive con su gato gruñón.
