George Bernard Shaw (Dublín, 1856-Hertfordshire, Inglaterra, 1950) no solo fue un célebre
dramaturgo, sino también un brillante y c ontrovertido escritor satírico y crítico. Tras su llegada a Londres en 1876
se convirtió en un activo defensor del socialismo y en un brillante orador. Además de su prolífica obra teatral,
escribió sobre distintos aspectos de la vida social de la época y fue crítico teatral y musical. En 1925 recibió el
Premio Nobel de Literatura. Algunas de sus obras traducidas a nuestra lengua son: Santa Juana (1985), Dieciséis esbozos
de mí mismo: autobiografía crítica (2002), Pigmalión (2003) o El perfecto wagneriano (2011).
