Geraldine Brooks (1955) nació y creció en Australia, donde empezó a trabajar como periodista. Después de trasladarse a Estados Unidos, trabajó durante once años en el Wall Street Journal, escribiendo crónicas sobre algunas de las regiones más castigadas del planeta, como Bosnia, Somalia y Oriente Medio. De su experiencia adquirida, nació su primer libro, Un mundo bajo el velo. Ganadora del Premio Pulitzer 2006 de Ficción por su novela March, ha escrito también El asombroso año de la plaga y Los guardianes del libro, sendos éxitos de ventas internacionales publicados por RBA.
