El novelista y poeta británico Rudyard Kipling nació en Bombay en 1865. Estudió en el Reino Unido y volvió a la India para trabajar como periodista y editor. Kim o El libro de la Selva son otros de los títulos que le dieron éxito y popularidad. Ganó el Premio Nobel en 1907. Murió en Londres en 1936.
