“El profeta” y “El jardín del profeta” perduran en el tiempo como dos de las obras más importantes del autor libanés Khalil Gibran (1883-1931). “El profeta” ha sido traducido a más de veinte idiomas y es considerado el libro más leído del siglo XX. En él se narra cómo un sabio mantiene un dialogo con la muchedumbre donde expone su sabiduría sobre temas profundamente humanos como el amor, la religión, la amistad, los hijos, la vida y la muerte. Por otra parte, “El jardín del profeta”, publicado doce años después, relata cómo, después de llegar a su tierra natal, el mismo sabio se reúne en su jardín con nueve discípulos para continuar el dialogo sobre los temas que inquietan al ser humano.

(Londres, 1976), pintora libanesa, realiza instalaciones y es también comisaria de exposiciones y activista en organizaciones ecologistas. Ha vivido en Nigeria y en las ciudades de Nueva York y Beirut. Durante los ataques a Líbano de julio de 2006, su blog beirutupdate.blogspot.com fue aclamado en todo el mundo y publicitado en portales de noticias como la CNN y la BBC.
