Aldous Leonard Huxley, nacido en Godalming, Surrey, en 1894 y muerto en Hollywood en 1963, es una de las mayores figuras de la literatura británica contemporánea. Ensayista, biógrafo, poeta y autor teatral, debe su notoriedad principalmente a sus novelas, entre las que destacan Los escándalos de Crome (1921), Contrapunto (1927), Un mundo feliz (1932) y Ciego en Gaza (1936).
