Michael Lewis, nacido el 15 de octubre de 1960 en Nueva Orleans, es un escritor y periodista fifi nanciero que ha pasado de ser un autor de referencia para el sector económico a uno de los ensayistas más importantes a nivel global. Es autor de algunos de los libros más vendidos en las dos últimas décadas en Estados Unidos, tales como The Blind Side, adaptada al cine y protagonizada por Sandra Bullock; Moneyball, cuya adaptación al cine protagonizó Brad Pitt en el papel principal; o Boomerang (Deusto, 2012), que encabezó durante semanas las principales listas de ventas. Se hizo famoso con El póquer del mentiroso (Alienta, 2011), su primer libro, una narración que trata sobre sus años de bróker en el ya desaparecido banco de inversión Salomon Brothers. El escándalo fifi nanciero que protagonizó este banco convirtió el libro en un fenómeno de ventas y en el testimonio más ácido de la codicia desmesurada que vivió Wall Street en la década de los ochenta. Lewis estudió Historia en Princeton y posee un máster en Economía por la London School of Economics. Actualmente es profesor en la Universidad de Berkeley, editor de Vanity Fair y colaborador de The New York Times y Bloomberg. Vive en Berkeley, California, con su esposa y sus tres hijos.
