Peter Cameron nació en Pompton Plains, Nueva Jersey, en 1959 y se graduó en el Hamilton College de Nueva York en Literatura Inglesa. Ha trabajado en el mundo editorial y ha sido profesor en varias universidades norteamericanas, como Columbia, Sarah Lawrence o Yale. Antes de publicar su primer libro, una colección de relatos titulada De un modo u otro (1986), había publicado varios cuentos en The New Yorker. Desde entonces ha publicado siete libros que le han consolidado como un escritor de fama internacional, entre ellos destacan las novelas: Año bisiesto (1990), Un fin de semana (1995), Andorra (1997), La ciudad de tu destino final (2002), Algún día este dolor te será útil (2007) y Coral Glynn (2012).
