Escritora y activista de derechos humanos palestino-estadounidense. Nació en 1970 en Kuwait, luego de que sus padres se trasladaran de Jordania tras ser expulsados de Palestina en 1967. Es licenciada en Biología y Master en Neurociencia. Es fundadora y presidenta de Parques Infantiles para Palestina.
Publicó numerosos ensayos y artículos periodísticos. "Amanecerse en Jenin" es su primera novela, que fue traducida a muchos idiomas y se transformó en un éxito internacional.
