Cornell Woolrich (Nueva York, 1903 - 1968) fue un importante novelista y guionista
estadounidense de la primera mitad del siglo XX. Doctor en Periodismo por la Universidad de Columbia, trabajó para la
industria cinematográfica de Hollywood hasta la llegada de la Gran Depresión. Junto con su nombre real, utilizó
frecuentemente los seudónimos William Irish y George Hopley. Es mundialmente conocido por ser el autor del relato en
que se basó la película La ventana indiscreta, de Alfred Hitchcock o la novela La novia vestía de negro, que inspiró la
película La sirena del Mississippi de François Truffaut.
