Yasmina Khadra nació en 1955 enel Sáhara argelino. Es hoy un autorconocido y admirado en el mundo entero, con buena parte de sus novelas publicadas en más de cuarenta países. El atentado (2007) recibió, entre otros, el premio de los libreros franceses y está siendo adaptado al cine. Lo que el día debe a la noche (Destino, 2009) fue declarado mejor libro del año por la prestigiosa revista Lire, e igualmente se ha realizado una adaptación a la gran pantalla.
