Paul Sussman (1966-2012) estudió historia en Cambridge. Al acabar la carrera, pasó tres años viajando por el mundo y ejerció las profesiones más variopintas. Cuando regresó a Inglaterra, en 1991, ayudó a fundar la revista The Big Issue, donde trabajó como crítico de cine y columnista durante siete años. Al mismo tiempo, colaboró como periodista freelance en importantes periódicos y revistas británicos: The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, Cosmopolitan, The Spectator... Además de arqueólogo fue también autor de cuatro novelas: El enigma de Cambises, El guardián de los arcanos, El oasis secreto y El Laberinto de Osiris. La primera de ellas lo catapultó a la fama y fue traducida a treinta y tres idiomas. Todas se han convertido en grandes éxitos internacionales. Falleció prematuramente poco después de haber entregado su última novela, El Laberinto de Osiris.
