Jerome David Salinger (1919-2010) és un escriptor nordamericà, conegut principalment per la seva novel·la El vigilant en el camp de sègol (1951) i per la seva reclusió solitària. No va publicar cap original des de 1965 i no va concedir cap entrevista des de 1981. És també l'autor del recull Nou contes (Empúries) i de Franny i Zoey (Proa), i de les dues novel.les Pugeu la biga mestra, fusters; seguit de Seymour, una introducció (Edicions 62).
