Sus novelas más importantes son Residuos, Hombres en el espacio, C y Satin Island. En 2006 publicó además el ensayo Tintín y el secreto de la literatura. En 2013 recibió el primer Windham-Campbell Literature Prize de la Universidad de Yale.
