Sally Rooney (County Mayo, Irlanda, 1991) va estudiar anglès al Trinity College de Dublín i té un màster de literatura nord-americana. A la universitat, Rooney va arribar a ser la guanyadora de les lligues de debat i oratòria d'àmbit europeu.
