Ed McBain (Nueva York, 1926-Weston, 2005) es el seudónimo de Evan Hunter, novelista y guionista
norteamericano. Su vocación como novelista se forjó mientras trabajaba en una agencia literaria, donde colaboró con
escritores de la talla de Arthur C. Clarke. Es especialmente popular su serie policíaca ambientada en el distrito 87
neoyorquino, con más de medio centenar de novelas llevadas en varias ocasiones a la pequeña y a la gran pantalla. Entre
sus títulos cabe destacar Odio, El atracador de mujeres, El traficante y Ojo con el sordo. En el mundo del cine es
conocido por haber adaptado la novela Los pájaros para el célebre y homónimo film dirigido por Alfred Hitchcock.
