Thomas Piketty (Clichy, 1971) Es doctor en economía por la École des Hautes Sciences Sociales, de la que actualmente es director de estudios, además de docente en la Escuela de Economía de París y en la Escuela de Economía y Ciencia Política de Londres. Se ha especializado en el estudio de la desigualdad, desde un punto de vista tanto teórico como histórico, y fruto de esta labor son los libros Introduction à la théorie de la redistribution des richesses (1994) y L´economie des inegalités (1997), entre otros. En 2013 recibió el Premio Yrjö Jahnsson y en 2015 ha rechazado la Legión de Honor del gobierno francés.
