Ian Shaw, editor de \"Historia del Antiguo Egipto\", estudió Arqueología y Egiptología en la Universidad de Cambridge y se doctoró con una tesis dedicada a los restos arqueológicos de Tell el Amarna. Posteriormente investigó las minas y canteras del antiguo Egipto como investigador de la British Academy en New Hall, Cambridge. Actualmente es profesor de Arqueología de Egipto en la Universidad de Liverpool. Entre sus publicaciones se cuentan \"Ancient Egyptian Warfare and Weapons\" (1992), \"The Dictionary of Archaeology\" (1999), \"Ancient Egyptian materials and technology\" (2000) y \"Diccionario Akal del Antiguo Egipto\" (2004).
