Patrick Süskind (Ambach, Bavaria, 1949). Historia ikasi zuen Munichen eta Aix-en-Provencen. 80ko urteetan, telebistarako gidoigilea izan zen. Baina arrakastaren gorena, Perfumea eleberri honekin etorri zitzaion, 1985ean. Berrogeita hamar bat hizkuntzetara itzuli da eta, 2006an, film bat egin zuen Tom Tyker zinema-zuzendariak eleberri horretan oinarri hartuta. Süskinden beste lan batzuk dira: Usoa (1988), Sommer jaunaren historia (1991), Hiru historia eta hausnarketa bat (1996), Amodioaz eta heriotzaz (2006).
