Max est peintre, ou plutôt, comme il dit luimême : collectionneur d`instants. Un jour, il s`installe sur une île pour peindre les images qu`il a collectionnées dans sa tête. Dans l`immeuble, habite un jeune garçon qui est attiré par Max et passe des journées entières dans le silence de son atelier. Mais Max ne lui montre jamais les tableaux qu`il peint. Jusqu`à ce que, partant pour un voyage, il laisse les clés de son atelier à l`enfant.
