Zadie Smith (Londres, 1975) estudou Filoloxgía Inglesa en Cambridge e foi profesora en Harvard durante un ano. Con White Teeth gañou o premio Whitbread á Primeira Novela, o James Tait Black Memorial de Narrativa, e os premios para Primeiro Libro dos Escritores da Commonwealth e The Guardian. Con só 25 anos, asombrou a crítica e público internacional cun elaborado sentido do ritmo narrativo e un talento inaudito para dibuxar personaxes de tres dimensións.





A súa segunda novela, The Autograph Man, obtivo o Jewish Quarterly Wingate Literary Prize e foi finalista do premio Orange. En 2003, Zadie foi elexida Mellor Nova Novelista Británica pola prestixiosa revista Granta. A súa última novela, Da beleza, obtivo o premio Orange 2006 e foi finalista do premio Booker 2005, confírmaa como unha das voces máis destacadas da nova narrativa inglesa.
