Anne Tyler nació en Minneápolis en 1941 y se crió en Raleigh, Carolina del Norte. En 1988 recibió el Premio Pulitzer por Ejercicios respiratorios. Otros de sus éxitos son El turista accidental, Cuando éramos mayores (Alfaguara, 2002) y El matrimonio amateur (Alfaguara, 2005). Es miembro de la Academia Americana de las Artes y las Letras.
Su obra es admirada por críticos y escritores, y más de un millón de lectores en todo el mundo ya han disfrutado de sus novelas.
